چکیده

In previous general screening experiments was found a potent spasmolytic effect in guinea-pig ileum promoted by a furanoflavan-type flavonoid 3,4,5,8-tetramethoxy-(6,7,2”,3”)-furanoflavan named diplotropin, obtained from the stem-barks of Lonchocarpus araripensis Benth., which effect is due, in part, to the inhibition of Ca influx through voltage-dependent Ca channels. This study demonstrates for the first time in the chemistry literature a new furanoflavoquinone derivative 5,6-dimethoxy-7-phenyl-6,7-dihydro-5H-furo[3,2-g]chromen-4,9-dione, codified as DPTN-Sint. 1, obtained after chemoselective oxidation of natural prototype (diplotropin) and evaluation of its biological activity in rat aorta and uterus, guinea-pig ileum and trachea. The new derivative present a selective spasmolytic effect on guinea-pig trachea not found with the prototype molecule.

Studies on the presence of spasmogenic and spasmolytic constituents in Hibiscus rosasinensis aerial parts

The aqueous-ethanolic extract of the Hibiscus rosasinensis aerial parts (Hr.Cr) was studied for the possible presence of spasmogenic and spasmolytic constituents to rationalize some of its traditional uses in gastrointestinal disorders. Segments of isolated rabbit jejunum and guinea-pig ileum, 2-3 cm long were mounted seprately in Tyrode’s solution and aerated with 95% oxygen in carbon dioxide....

A comparative study on the effects of new opioid compounds and morphine on the contractility of guinea pig ileum and mouse vas deferens

Considering the clinical significance of opioids, especially their application for the treatment of severe painful conditions including cancer pain and the requirement for the synthesis of more specific drugs with lower side effects, this study was conducted to perform a preliminary investigation on six newly developed opioid drugs. Our aim was to introduce drugs that act selectively on the opi...

Relaxant effect of pioglitazone on the guinea-pig isolated trachea through the modulation of endogenous prostaglandins

Thiazolidinediones are commonly used anti-diabetic drugs. Owing to the anti-inflammatory action of TZDs as a result of there action on the PPAR gamma receptor and a proposed action on the prostaglandins, these drugs can be tried in the acute exacerbations of COPD that are also commonly found among diabetic patients. An experimental study of one week was carried out at animal house of Army Medic...
